The Hobbit

The Hobbit

An absolute classic, I could read The Hobbit over and over again. Tolkien is the best Fantasy writer of all time for a reason and I feel The Hobbit is severely underrated. If you haven't read this, you owe it to yourself to do so.

The Blade Itself

The Blade Itself

The Blade Itself is the epic entry into The First Law trilogy. Joe Abercrombie masterfully blends conspiracies, war, politics, heroes, and villains in a masterclass on character work. A must-read for any fantasy fan.

Storm Front

Storm Front

Storm Front is Book 1 of 18 in The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. This is one of the few books that I recommend as an audiobook. The narration by James Marsters is phenomenal. If you like the idea of a modern-day detective who is also a wizard, check it out.

The Will of The Many

The Will of The Many

The Will of the Many by James Islington was huge on BookTok in 2025 and for good reason. It takes a bit to settle into the language, but once it clicks, it is impossible to put down. The magic system is one of the most interesting I have seen in a while.

The Shadow of the Gods

The Shadow of the Gods

I had never read John Gwynne until I picked up this book in 2025, but it is easy to see why so many people praise his writing. He is to combat what Tolkien is to world-building: an absolute master.

Final Thoughts

You really can't go wrong with any of these picks. I hope to upload in-depth reviews for them all in the near future. I still have quite a backlog of reviews to upload and I've been busy planning some other things like our new Discord Community, and some Literal Dad Merchandise!
